KATHMANDU, April 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) lost 299.55 points in the past one year of the Nepali calendar that ended on Wednesday.

KATHMANDU, April 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) lost 299.55 points in the past one year of the Nepali calendar that ended on Wednesday.  



The market opened at 2,714.79 points on April 15, 2021 and closed at 2,415.24 points on April 13, 2022. Over the period, the secondary market hit an all time high record of 3,198.60 points on August 18, 2021.

The market was affected by the second and third wave of the coronavirus pandemic and the months-long liquidity crunch in the country’s banking system apart from the depleting macroeconomic indicators of the external sector. Subsequently, the market reached as low as 2,385.01 points last Tuesday.


Over the period, the sensitive index that measures the performance of class ‘A’ stocks, fell by 30.19 points to close at 456.09 points. The index of commercial bank, which is one of the attractions of the shares’ investors, declined by 276.77 points to  close at 1,604.35 points.
