Nepse loses 27.92 points on the first trading day of the week

KATHMANDU, August 14: Nepal Stock Exchange (Nepse) on Sunday plunged 27.92 points to close at 2,010.01 points.



The secondary market opened at 2,037.92 points and reached the day’s maximum of 2,042.87 points in the first one hour of the commencement of trading for the day. The market, however, went to a straight fall in the remaining trading hours.

Along with the fall in the index, the turnover amount declined to Rs 1.87 billion from the average daily turnover of Rs 2.40 billion in the last week.


The sensitive index that measures the performance of the blue chips companies also declined 4.76 points. All the trading groups had their indices drop in the intraday trading. Life insurance and manufacturing and processing witnessed a three-digit points’ fall in their indices.


Himalayan Distillery had the transaction of its shares worth Rs 165.39 million, the largest of all. Gurans Laghubitta Bittiya Sanstha was the topmost loser while Upper Hewa Khola Hydropower Company was the biggest gainer of the day.
