NC is conducting both the protest against the parliament dissolution and preparation of the mid-term election at same time
KATHMANDU, Jan 9: Nepali Congress is staging nation-wide protest against the dissolution of House of Representatives (HoR) in all the 330 election constituencies on Saturday. Party insiders say the party has also been organizing the protest programs in line with its strategy to prepare for the midterm elections announced for April 30 and May 10 or stand ready for the reinstatement of the dissolved parliament.

President Bidya Devi Bhandari dissolved the lower house of parliament and announced a midterm election on the recommendation of Prime Minister KP Oli on December 20. The move has drawn a series of protests across the countries with all opposition parties terming the move ‘unconstitutional’.
NC leader Ram Hari Khatiwada said that the party is ready for both the reinstatement of the lower house of parliament or the midterm election. “The party is putting forth plans and programs accordingly,” he added.
According to the NC headquarters, party President Sher Bahadur Deuba will address a protest rally in election constituency-5 in Budhanilkantha and NC Spokesperson Bishwa Prakash Sharma will address the rally to be organized in election constituency-6 in Kathmandu.
Similarly, NC youth leader Gagan Thapa will address a protest rally in Kapan and other leader Sita Devi Yadav will address a rally in Kavrepalanchowk. NC is scheduled to stage protests in all electoral constituencies on January 9 in all rural municipalities and municipalities on January 16 and in all ward offices on January 21.
