Nepal exported pet food of Rs 2.26 billion between mid-July and mid-April, a rise of Rs 300 million

KATHMANDU, April 23: Nepal exported pet food worth Rs 2.26 billion in the first nine months of the current fiscal year.



The records with the Department of Customs (DoC) show that Nepal exported the aforementioned amount mainly targeted to feed cats and dogs. The amount was Rs 300 million more than the country earned under the same heading in the same period last year. During mid-July and mid-April last year, Nepal exported the items worth Rs 1.97 billion.

In the review period this year, Nepal exported the pet food worth Rs 1.95 billion to the US, the largest of all. Last year, the amount stood at Rs 1.63 billion.


Canada, Japan, the United Kingdom, the UAE, Hong Kong, the Netherlands and Singapore were among the main purchasers of Nepal produced pet food. In total, Nepal exported the food items to 25 countries, according to the DoC.
