Nepal can now trade with third countries using Indian Railways

KATHMANDU, July 10: The Rail Service owned by Nepal Railway Company will now have access to Kolkata and Haldia ports of India and use Indian Rail Services to trade with third countries.

KATHMANDU, July 10: The Rail Service owned by Nepal Railway Company will now have access to Kolkata and Haldia ports of India and use Indian Rail Services to trade with third countries.



Amid a virtual Letter of Exchange signing ceremony held on Friday, India and Nepal reached an agreement to this effect.

Dinesh Bhattarai, Secretary at the Ministry of Commerce and Supplies and member of the Department of Operation and Business Development under the Indian Ministry of Railways Sanjay Kumar Mohatai signed the agreement.


With this, all kinds of authorized public and private containers, rails can now ship goods and use Indian Railway service while trading with third countries.


According to the Indian Embassy, ​​this is just a step of India's many efforts to expand regional connectivity under the 'Neighbor First' policy.
