NEA requests Gandaki govt to facilitate power projects

Kathmandu, June 12 :  Nepal Electricity Authority (NEA) has requested the provincial government to pave the way for smooth construction of power transmission and distribution projects in 11 districts of Gandaki Province.



NEA held a discussion with Chief Minister of Gandaki Province, Krishna Chandra Nepali Pokharel, Minister of Energy, Water Resource and Drinking Water Hari Sharan Acharya and Chief Secretary Ravi Lal Pant in Pokhara on Saturday and informed them about the electricity projects operational in the province.

NEA Executive Director Kulman Ghising informed the provincial government about the projects under construction and distribution in Gandaki Province, the problems and obstructions seen in the construction of the projects and the progress of electrification in the province. Chief Minister Pokharel urged to expedite the work of the project under construction and proposed to expand the power transmission and distribution operations in Gandaki, which has great potential for hydropower generation.


Chief Minister Pokharel said, "Some districts of the province are not yet fully electrified. There is a problem of voltage in the power supply. We are always ready to help and facilitate it by improving it and moving ahead for adequate and reliable power supply." Similarly, the provincial Minister for Energy and Water Resources Acharya said that continuous initiatives have been taken to solve the problems faced by the power projects.


Meanwhile, the locals have obstructed the construction of Kaligandaki Corridor 220 KV, Bharatpur-Bardaghat 220 KV, Marsyangdi Corridor 220 KV, New Modi-Lekhnath 132 KV transmission lines in different districts of Gandaki Province.
