KATHMANDU, May 18: Nepali Congress (NC) mayoral candidate Mohan Basnet has been elected in the race for the mayor of Dakshinkali Municipality in Kathmandu district.

He garnered 4698 votes whereas his closest rival CPN-UML mayoral candidate Shashi Sharma Aryal secured 4268 votes only.
Likewise, NC deputy mayoral candidate Basanti Maharjan has won the race for deputy mayor with 4749 votes, compared to 4330 votes garnered by her closest rival UML deputy mayoral candidate Mira Acharya Maharjan.
