DOLPA, July 27: Police have arrested 53-year-old Bir Bahadur Bam, ward member of Tripurasundari Rural Municipality-6 of Fulching, elected from the Nepali Congress (NC), on the charge of attempted rape of a 26-year-old female of the same municipality.
According to Rudra Bahadur Shahi, in-charge and Senior Inspector of Tripurakot Police Office, Bam was arrested from the house of one of his relatives on Monday. He had made an attempt to rape the female on July 9 and had been hiding at his relative’s house at Chalgaoun in Tripurasundari Rural Municipality. The police had been searching for Bam after the victim filed a complaint against him on July 19.
Shambhunath Municipality shut ‘indefinitely’
Raju Pandey, Deputy Superintendent of Police of the District Police Office, Dolpa, said that a medical examination of the victim was conducted and that further investigation was underway.
