Surkhet, Nov 21: Nepali Congress (NC) candidate Hridaya Ram Thani has maintained the initial lead in Surkhet Constituency-2. Thani, the common candidate of the democratic-left alliance, has received 1,987 votes.

According to the District Election Office, CPN-UML's Amrit Bahadur Budhakshetri is behind Thani with 1,455 votes. Tek Bahadur Chunara of Rastriya Swatantra Party has bagged 50 votes so far while Bhim Bahadur Shahi of Rastriya Prajatantra Party has received 31 votes. There are nine candidates for a House of Representatives (HoR) seat in Surkhet-2.
