KATHMANDU, Oct 4: Nepali Congress (NC) lawmaker Ram Ayodhya Prasad Yadav has demanded to increase the salary and allowances of lawmakers.
Speaking at the parliament meeting on Tuesday, lawmaker Yadav asked to increase the salary and allowances arguing that landlords have hiked the price for rented rooms.
“The allowances of lawmakers got increased in the budget speech. Media reported that lawmakers have become rich,” he said, “But, as per the regulation, we are receiving only Rs 6,000 as room allowance.”

He said that landlords have already increased the rent.
“Landlords have increased the rent to Rs 20,000-25,000. I request to increase the allowances by formulating a new regulation. And, we should get the increased allowances from the start of the fiscal year,” he said.
He further requested media to circulate factual information on the allowances and salary of the lawmakers.
Speaking earlier, NC lawmaker Prem Kishor Sha also demanded to increase the salary and allowances of the parliamentarians.
