21 taxi drivers honored for their honesty

KATHMANDU, March 1: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) felicitated 21 'honest' taxi drivers in the capital on Monday.

KATHMANDU, March 1: Metropolitan Traffic Police Division (MTPD) felicitated 21 'honest' taxi drivers in the capital on Monday.



MTPD, organizing a function in the capital honored the taxi drivers who themselves turned up at the traffic office and handed over the cash, pieces of jewellery and valuable belongings left by the passengers in their taxis.

According to Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Bhim Prasad Dhakal, the chief at MTPD, a total of 21 drivers who exhibited a high level of honesty during the fiscal year 2019/20 were honored.    


On the occasion, the drivers said that they felt more accountable. One of the drivers Ridh Bahadur Thapa said that he was more encouraged after being recognized as a 'good' driver by MTPD. 


"It's a real matter of pleasure for us to get awarded for our deeds," another diver Royat Bahadur Rokka said. 


According to police, a total of 395 passengers have applied for their belonging left in the taxis so far in the current fiscal year 2019/20. Of them, goods worth Rs 14,860,365 of 280 applicants have been recovered.
