KATHMANDU, Aug 14: Drawing the government’s attention toward unfair distribution of the identity cards meant for poor families, independent lawmaker from Humla district Chhakka Bahadur Lama speaking in parliament on Monday has demanded re-distribution of the identity cards.

Speaking during the zero hour at the House of Representatives meeting, Lama demanded the re-distribution arguing that many wealthy people have been listed as poor and provided the identity cards while genuine poor have been excluded.

“Local units have been enlisting the poor in Humla and other districts and distributing identity cards to the families living below the poverty line. But the process is flawed and the cards have been misused by the rich,” Lama said.

Lama further demanded the ministry concerned needs to tackle the problem seriously and start re-distribution of the cards so that the target groups can benefit.
