Modi Set For Kayaking Competition

POKHARA, Nov 30: With the aim to promote kayaking in the Modi River at Kaski, a Kayaking competition is being organized from December 1 to 3.

POKHARA, Nov 30: With the aim to promote kayaking in the Modi River at Kaski, a Kayaking competition is being organized from December 1 to 3.



The competition will begin from Birethanti, Kaski with the distance of 300 meters. Nepal Kayak and Canoe Club and Birethanti Canyoning are jointly organizing the competitionwith around 40 national and international levelkayak enthusiasts.

The winners will be announced on the basis of the time that participants take to complete the distance, as per the organizers. The winner will be awarded with Rs 50,000, first runner up will receive Rs 30,000, while the second runner up will get Rs 20,000. “The competition will help in the promotion of adventure sports. We hope it will help in the promotion of the tourism in Nepal,” said Bijaya Gurung, owner of Birethanti Canyoning.  


According to him, there are numerous water bodies that can be used in kayaking and can be the attraction for international tourists. Kaski is gaining fame for various adventure sports such as kayaking, paragliding, canyoning and zip flying, among others, of late.
