Minister Thapa donates first month’s salary to Kanti Children's Hospital

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Minister for Health Gagan Kumar Thapa has donated his first month’s salary to the Oncology Fund at Kanti Children's Hospital.

KATHMANDU, Nov 23: Minister for Health Gagan Kumar Thapa has donated his first month’s salary to the Oncology Fund at Kanti Children's Hospital.



Minister Thapa, during his visit to the hospital after assuming his office, had announced to support the fund.

Minister Thapa handed over Rs 46,000 to the hospital on Monday, according to a statement issued by his personal secretariat.


Minister Thapa said donations to such funds would inspire others to follow suit and such donation practice should be exercised in other sectors, too.


During the visit to the hospital, Minister Thapa had directed to strengthen the fund so that no Nepalis are deprived of quality health services.  


Established by the United Kingdom in 1997, the fund has a total of Rs 40 million at present.


A total of 584 children suffering from cancer received treatment last year while 45 new patients also availed of treatment. The oncology ward being operated in the hospital has a total of 26 beds.
