Minister Basnet vows to implement minimum wage for working journalists

KATHMANDU, August 1: Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has pledged to hold discussions with media houses to ensure the professional rights of working journalists.

KATHMANDU, August 1: Minister for Information and Communications Mohan Bahadur Basnet has pledged to hold discussions with media houses to ensure the professional rights of working journalists. 



Speaking in a programme organized by the Federation of Nepali Journalists (FNJ) to congratulate and extend good wishes to him on his appointment as the Information Minister here today, Basnet committed to provide security and services to the journalists as per the laws. 



Minister Basnet vowed to implement the mass media policy and help guarantee the minimum wages to the working journalists. He further expected the watchdog role from the media persons regarding the implementation of the constitution. 



The Minister shared that he was studying the issues relating to proportional, welfare and clean feed advertisement policies. 



Similarly, FNJ President Dr Mahendra Bista complained that the government was not paying attention to establishing a Mass Media Training Academy and implementing the mass media policy. 



He further added that the FNJ was fighting to ensure the professional rights of journalists and it is yet not achieved in full scale. 



Press Council Nepal chair Bhawani Baral extended best wishes to Minister Basnet for effective and result oriented tenure. RSS
