Local election, delay in material supply for printing to blame for delay in providing textbooks to students: Minister Paudel

KATHAMNDU, June 14: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has said that the textbooks could not be provided to students on time due to non-supply of paper, adding that the papers needed to print the textbooks had to be brought from the international market and the printing was delayed due to the lack of supply.

KATHAMNDU, June 14: Minister for Education, Science and Technology Devendra Paudel has said that the textbooks could not be provided to students on time due to non-supply of paper, adding that the papers needed to print the textbooks had to be brought from the international market and the printing was delayed due to the lack of supply. Minister Paudel shared this at a parliament meeting held at the Federal Parliament building on Tuesday.



Similarly, the employees of Janak Education Material Center Limited, which was given the responsibility of printing the textbooks, had left work to attend the local level elections, clarifying that the supply of textbooks was delayed by just 15 days.

Minister Poudel said that a budget has been allocated to provide Rs 10,000 to the child development teachers by adding Rs 2,000 from the federal government. He shared that work has been started to determine the service conditions of the staff management by updating the details of the former primary teachers and staff working in the schools. He also said that necessary arrangements will be made in coordination with the Ministry of Finance.


He also said that the draft of the Federal Education Act has been prepared and necessary discussions are being held with the Ministry of Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs and the Ministry of Finance to form a consensus. He said that the agreement will be presented in the parliament after reaching an agreement. 


Minister Poudel said that one lakh students would be provided skill-based training to make education employment-oriented by imparting some kind of vocational skill to the students after completing the school level. He also said that a budget has been allocated for conducting short term employment oriented training programs for the youth.
