KATHANDU, Dec 30: The Gurung community celebrated Tamu Lhosar across the country today with full fanfare.

A special program was organized in the capital's Tundijhel on the occasion of Lhosar.

Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal inaugurated the program. In the Gurung language, ‘Lho’ means year and ‘sar’ means new.

That’s why the meaning of Lhosar is New Year. So, it is celebrated as the Gurung New Year.

Clad in bright and colorful traditional dresses, thousands of Gurung men, women and girls gathered at Tundikhel to celebrate the festival.
