KATHMANDU, June 5: The Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) has directed all hospitals within its jurisdiction to establish and operate their own pharmacies within 15 days.

In a notice issued on Wednesday, the metropolis made it mandatory for hospitals to comply with this directive, addressing concerns over the current practice where third-party entities manage hospital pharmacies. This has been linked to substandard service quality and higher medicine prices.
