KATHMANDU, Sept 16: Kathmandu Metropolitan City (KMC) and the Bagmati Province Cricket Association (BPCA) are joining forces to bolster the ranks of cricket coaches in a promising collaboration.

KMC Mayor Balendra Shah and BPCA President Paras Khadka have signed a pact, pledging their cooperation in providing cricket coaching to an additional 50 individuals within the Kathmandu region.

As per the agreement, 50 school-level coaches in the Kathmandu Valley will receive training and certification at the ICC Label 0 level. The BPCA will spearhead the training efforts, with financial support extended by the metropolitan authorities.

Mayor Shah articulated that their collaborative vision includes establishing cricket facilities in select schools and wards, with BPCA offering its technical expertise. However, a critical gap exists when it comes to the availability of coaches for those eager to learn cricket in these locations.

Presently, Bagmati province boasts only 25 certified cricket coaches, ranging from ICC Labels 1 to 3. Given the relatively low ratio of coaches to players, the initiative aims to cultivate ICC Label 0 coaches.

Mayor Balendra Shah expressed his commitment to train these 50 new cricket coaches, envisioning a ripple effect that will empower aspiring cricket players across the city with enhanced skills and knowledge.

Paras Khadka, sharing his perspective, anticipates that this program will be a significant milestone by nurturing 50 school-level cricket coaches in the Kathmandu district.
