Kathmandu District Court issues order to release Sixit Bhatta on bail

KATHMANDU, Jan 7: The Kathmandu District Court has issued an order to release Tootle’s founder Sixit Bhatta on bail.



Judge Shakuntala Karki's bench rejected the request made by the police to keep Bhatta in custody and ordered him to be released on bail. The police sought permission to detain him for investigation on charges of copyright infringement and treachery.

Bhatta was arrested on Thursday night. On the fourth day of custody, the police sought permission from the court to extend his custody for investigation. But the Kathmandu District Court ordered to release him.


After it was learnt that this dispute is currently sub judice in the Patan High Court, the district court ordered the police to proceed with the investigation without keeping Bhatta in custody.
