KATHMANDU, Sept 27: Supreme Court's senior-most justice Deepak Raj Joshee, who resumed office on September 11 after being rejected by the Parliamentary Hearings Committee (PHC) for the position of chief justice, has gone on leave yet again.
Justice Joshee has taken leave amid threats by the ruling party leaders that they would bring a motion in parliament to impeach him if he did not resign. "He [Joshee] has gone on leave for a few days," a source at the Supreme Court told Republica.
The source claimed that Joshee will remain on leave till Friday.
Justice Joshee to resume office amid impeachment threat
On September 11, Joshee resumed office as the senior-most justice of the apex court amid threats of impeachment by the ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) leaders.
The ruling party leaders had conveyed message to Joshee through his aides that he would have to face impeachment if he chooses to resume office and given him a week's time to resign.
According to sources, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal also conveyed his message to Joshee to either resign or face impeachment.
"Dhakal has also conveyed his message to Chief Justice Om Prakash Mishra that the latter would not attend the meetings of both the Judicial Council and Judicial Commission until Joshee resigns," a source said.
Meanwhile, a family source claimed that Joshee is taking rest and would return to work next Sunday. "He has no plan to resign."
