Journalist Chhetri of Pokhara self-immolates by spraying petrol on her body

POKHARA, Aug 23: Journalist Roshni Chettri from Pokhara has committed self-immolation. The 25-year-old Chettri committed suicide by sprinkling petrol on her body at her residence at Jalpa Road, Pokhara.

POKHARA, Aug 23: Journalist Roshni Chettri from Pokhara has committed self-immolation. The 25-year-old Chettri committed suicide by sprinkling petrol on her body at her residence at Jalpa Road, Pokhara.



She was immediately taken to Gandaki Medical College and put on a ventilator but died on Tuesday afternoon.

She was also a member of the Film Journalists’ Association Nepal, Kaski and worked in media such as Machhapuchhre FM, Parichaya.com, Annapurna FM. She was pursuing her master's degree in journalism.


Chhetri was married only last year. Her family said that she was pregnant. The reason for the self-immolation is not  yet clear.
