Jajarkot experiences 311 aftershocks till 10:35 AM today

Jajarkot, Nov 5: The National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Center reported that 311 aftershocks occurred in Jajarkot till 10:35 AM on Sunday.



Seismologist of the Center, Dr Mukunda Bhattarai has informed Republica that there were 311 aftershocks till 10:35 this morning.

Following the initial earthquake of magnitude 6.4 with its epicenter in Lamidanda, there have been multiple significant aftershocks, including a 4.5 magnitude aftershock at 12:08 AM, a 4.2 magnitude aftershock at 12:29AM, and a 4.3 magnitude aftershock at 12:35AM on the same night. These aftershocks have continued to affect Jajarkot.


So far, 157 people have died and more than 200 people have been injured in the earthquake. According to the police, 105 people died in Jajarkot and 52 in West Rukum. Rescue operations and relief distribution work are ongoing in the affected areas.
