KATHMANDU, Feb 19: The immediate past Governor of Province 2, Tilak Pariyar termed the recent activities of the incumbent government as a series of assaults on the spirit of federalism hours after he was sacked from the position of Province 2 governor.
President Bidya Devi Bhandari relieved Pariyar of his duty as per Article 165 (1) of the Constitution of Nepal at the recommendation of the Council of Ministers earlier on Friday. Rajesh Jha from Rautahat district was appointed as the Province 2 governor, replacing Pariyar as per Article 163 (2) of the constitution. Pariyar is a leader close to the Dahal-Nepal faction of the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
Evaluating Province 2
Talking to Republica over the phone, Pariyar said that it is an attempt of a political coup. “It was an act triggered by political prejudice.”
