IRD scraps excise duty permits of Cristal Bottlers and Mount Everest Distillery on charge of using fake stickers

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: The government has scrapped the excise duty permits of two distilleries on the charge of revenue leakage by using fake stickers of excise duty.

KATHMANDU, Dec 1: The government has scrapped the excise duty permits of two distilleries on the charge of revenue leakage by using fake stickers of excise duty. 



According to the Inland Revenue Department, it has barred Cristal Bottlers Pvt Ltd and Mount Everest Distillery Pvt Ltd from selling their products with effect from November 26. The Department of Revenue Investigation (DRI) has also filed cases against these companies, seeking to recover Rs 55.60 million.

These distilleries were found importing counterfeit stickers from India to evade government taxes. Their misconduct surfaced after the Armed Police Force some three months ago arrested the porters of fake stickers from the Nepal-India border.   


Both these manufacturers have their production plants in Siddharthanagar Municipality of Rupandehi district.
