Indian govt gifts 2,000 vials of Remdesivir to Nepal

KATHMANDU, Sept 15: The Indian government has handed over 2,000 vials of Remdesivir, an antiviral medicine, on Tuesday.



Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Vinay M. Kwatra handed over 2,000 vials of Remdesivir to the Minister for Foreign Affairs (MoFA) of Nepal, Pradeep Kumar Gyawali, on behalf of the Government of India.

The Indian government has extended the medical-aid to support Nepal to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.


Similarly, earlier the neighboring friend had provided ICU ventilators, COVID-19 Test Kits (RT-PCR) on 17 May and essential medicines including Paracetamol and Hydroxychloroquine to Nepal showing solidarity with its battle against COVID-19.


Remdesivir medicine is regarded as a broad-spectrum antiviral medication for treating moderate to severely ill patients on oxygen therapy. According to medical research, the drug is proven to significantly reduce the duration of hospital stay and also diminish the recovery time of patients.
