KATHMANDU, Nov 27: The Indian government on Wednesday said that Indian and Nepali security agencies have maintained good cooperation to check the influx of fake Indian currency notes into India.
In a written reply to a question regarding overhauling circulation of fake Indian currency notes (FICN) through the Indo-Nepal border in India's Rajya Sabha in New Delhi today, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, G. Kishan Reddy stated that the Indian government has taken various steps in order to eradicate the menace of fake notes.
"Vigil is being maintained at the India Nepal border to check the smuggling and circulation of FICN. There has been excellent cooperation between security agencies of the two countries to check the influx of FICN into India," he said.

Reddy mentioned that training programs have been conducted for the Nepali police officers on combating the circulation of fake currency notes to sensitize them on smuggling/ counterfeiting of Indian currency.
"Intelligence and security agencies of Central and State Governments keep a close watch on the elements involved in the circulation of fake currency in the country and take action in accordance with law," he said.
FICN Coordination Centre (FCORD) has been established by the Government to share intelligence/ information among different security agencies of the states/ central government to counter the problem of circulation of FICN in the country, Reddy informed.
"A Terror Funding and Fake Currency Cell (TFFC) has also been established in NIA to investigate terror funding and FICN cases," he said.
