In Pictures: People leave Kathmandu in droves for Dashain

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Dashain, the main festival of Nepali people, has already arrived. Family members, who have gone away from home for work and studies, have been returning home since Ghatashthapana– the first day of Dashain festival– six days ago.

KATHMANDU, Oct 1: Dashain, the main festival of Nepali people, has already arrived. Family members, who have gone away from home for work and studies, have been returning home since Ghatashthapana– the first day of Dashain festival– six days ago.



Huge crowd of people returning home is seen at all major exit points of Kathmandu Valley. New bus park, Koteshwar, Kalanki and other areas are seen heavily crowded as people continue returning to their homes.

It is expected that the number of people who return to their villages on Dashain this year will increase significantly as the impact of COVID-19 pandemic has subsided as compared to previous years.
