KATHMANDU , March 31: Hydro Nepal, a water, energy and environment journal, announced Thursday it was conferring the Hydro Nepal Excellence Award 2073 to Nepal Electricity Authority Managing Director Kulman Ghising. The publishing house said Ghising was awarded in recognition of his management skills in ending protracted power cuts.

The journal said it was handing the Hydro Nepal Life Achievement Award to Hariman Shrestha for his contribution to the hydropower sector of the country. Shrestha, in his research study in 1966, revealed that Nepal’s hydropower capacity was 83,000 MW. Hydro Nepal started felicitating people involved in the hydropower sector in 2008.
