KATHMANDU, May 30: The mortality rate of COVID-19 patients undergoing treatment at the hospitals in Banke has decreased dramatically. Earlier, the hospitals recorded about 15-17 deaths on a daily basis which dropped to zero in the past 24 hours. As many as four COVID-19 patients from other districts who came for treatment in Banke succumbed to the virus on Sunday.
According to Tej Oli, focal person for the District COVID-19 Crisis Management Center (DCCMC), many of the patients admitted and dying at the hospitals in Banke are from the other districts. The district has recorded 288 deaths from COVID-19 along with 279 deaths of people from other districts who had arrived at the hospitals in Banke for treatment. Also, four people from Dang, Bardiya and Salyan who were admitted to the hospital have died since last night.
Maternal mortality rate still high in Banke
As stated by Tej Oli, a 42-year-old female from ward 4 of Tulsipur Sub-Metropolitan City died at the Teaching Hospital in Kohalpur. Similarly, a 61-year-old male from Salyan Baghchaur Municipality-8, a 42-year-old male from Basgadi Municipality-3 of Bardiya, and a 58-year-old female from Badaiyataal Rural Municipality-5 of Bardiya died at Bheri Hospital.
