Meanwhile, the personal details of the guests staying at various hotels and lodges in Mustang are being documented. Security agencies are holding daily meeting to expedite necessary security-related preparations, Deputy Superintendent of Police Ramhari Pandey said.

Matters relating to closing down the Annapurna circuit trekking route for three days, in view of Modi's May 11 visit to the Muktinath temple are also being discussed. However, the Beni-Jomsom road linking Mustang to the national highway will open for the three days. Presently, the road is being closed for traffic for eight hours a day in order to upgrade it.

A welcome committee has been formed under the convenorship of District Coordination Committee Chair Tshering Hyalmo Gurung to welcome the Indian Prime Minister to the district.

In the meantime, the residents of Mustang are enthusiastic over the high-level religious visit to Muktinath, regarded as a common pilgrimage of both Hindus and Buddhists. "This visit will help consolidate Nepal-India relations at the people's level and also contribute to religious tourism by adding fame to Muktinath," said House of Representatives member Prem Prasad Tulachan.

Meanwhile, on Sunday, Defense Minister Iswar Pokharel arrived here to take stock of the security situation and necessary preparations for the visit. Upon arrival by a helicopter, Minister Pokharel took note of the preparations from security officials and local people's representatives. RSS
