KATHMANDU, Sept 10: Reconstruction of heritages of Kathmandu's historical city, Sankhu, which was devastated by the April 2015 earthquake, has not gathered momentum.
The reconstruction drive has almost reached four years but its speed is snail-paced.
Though the Department of Archaeology took up the responsibility for the rebuild of the Lichchhivi-era historical heritages, it could not speed up the works.

The Gorkha Earthquake-2015 had caused damages to 10 heritages of Sankhu. Among the damaged heritages were Bajrayogini Temple, Khagayogini Temple, Madhav Narayan Deuchau, Nhayayak Home (Mai's Home), Maighar Temple (Suntole), Padmagiri Chaitya Mahabihar, Bajrayogini Basundhara Mai, Narayan Temple, Krishna Temple, and Yogeswor Jyotirlinga Temple.
Among the earthquake devastated heritages, the reconstruction of Narayan Temple, Krishna Temple, and Yogeswor Jyotirlinga Temple have been complete, shared Department of Archaeology's Information Officer, Damodar Gautam.
Reconstruction of remaining seven heritages is being coordinated by the Department as part of its multi-year plan, shared Officer at the Department, Sabita Neupane.
The delay in the reconstruction of heritages of Sankhu also has outraged locals, said Sangeeta Shrestha, a local folk of Sankhu.
"It is difficult to go to the temple daily for no renovation. A fear psychology haunts while offering prayers in whether the heritage will cave in", she added. RSS
