Hearing on case against Lamichhane adjourned again

KATHMANDU, May 30: The hearing on the case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane was once again adjourned on Tuesday.

KATHMANDU, May 30: The hearing on the case against cricketer Sandeep Lamichhane was once again adjourned on Tuesday.



Judge Shankar Bahadur Rai of Kathmandu District Court said that the final verdict will be issued only after a decision on a petition filed by the victim for interim compensation.

Prior to this, Kathmandu District Court Judge Phanindra Parajuli had ordered Lamichhane’s lawyer to resubmit evidence of the date of birth of the victim.


Lamichhane has been accused of raping a minor girl. He was arrested by the police on October 6, 2022. Subsequently, the Kathmandu District Court remanded him in custody for investigation.


However, the Patan High  Court had released him on January 12, 2023 against a bond of Rs 2 million and under certain conditions.
