Issuing a public statement on Sunday, the ministry asked journalists to wear face masks while covering any event or producing news content or reading it or taking interviews of people of different walks of life.

“Media personalities are also urged not to cover the news and information of those not wearing masks in order to encourage them to abide by the government-set health protocols,” reads the statement issued by Dr Sameer Kumar Adhikari, the ministry’s assistant spokesperson.

Media persons are also asked not to publish or broadcast the news and information of those defying the health protocols set to curb the spread of COVID-19.

The ministry also warns of a terrible situation in the next few days where patients would not get a bed in hospitals for COVID-19 treatment unless the ongoing infection chain is broken.
