KATHMANDU, May 24: The total number of people infected by COVID-19 has climbed to 603 in Nepal with 19 new cases in various districts today, Ministry of Health and Population said.
During a regular press briefing, the spokesperson for the MoHP, Bikas Devkota, informed that throat swab samples of 45-year-old male from Morang, 32-year-old male from Bara, 25-year-old male from Bara, 60-year-old male from Parsa, 34-year-old male from Parsa, 32-year-old male from Rautahat, 48-year-old male from Sarlahi tested positive for COVID-19 today.
He shared that Rupandehi alone witnessed six COVID-19 cases on Sunday during the test through PCR method at a lab based in Bhairahawa. Three males (aged 35, 37 and 52) from Kapilvastu were also diagnosed with coronavirus during the PCR testing in Bhairahawa today.

According to him, the swab sample of a 31-year-old male from Gulmi also tested positive for COVID-19. Spokesperson Devkota said that the first COVID-19 case has been recorded in Nuwakot. The swab sample of a 39-year-old male from Kakani of Nuwakot tested positive for virus during PCR testing at National Public Health Laboratory, Teku.
A 69-year-old male from Sorhakhutte area of Kathmandu also tested positive today afternoon during the test through PCR method at NPHL. Of the total COVID-19 infected patients, 524 are males while 89 are females. As of Sunday afternoon, 87 COVID-19 patients have been discharged after recovery, according to Devkota.
The country has witnessed three COVID-19 death as of today.
