Govt to sign MoU for energy cooperation with BIMSTEC countries

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: In the wake of the upcoming BIMSTEC summit, the government has decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the BIMSTEC grid interconnection for energy cooperation among the six BIMSTEC countries.

KATHMANDU, Aug 20: In the wake of the upcoming BIMSTEC summit, the government has decided to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) for the establishment of the BIMSTEC grid interconnection for energy cooperation among the six BIMSTEC countries.

A cabinet meeting held at Singha Durbar on Sunday decided to give the authority to Minister for Foreign Affairs Pradeep Kumar Gyawali to sign the MoU on behalf of the government during the summit scheduled for August 30 and 31 in the capital. Head of states from the BIMSTEC countries—Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sir Lanka, Thailand and Bhutan—have been scheduled to visit Nepal to attend the summit. 


The BIMSTEC Summit seeks cooperation among South Asian and South East Asian countries along the coast of the Bay of Bengal.
