Govt tables annual reports of CIAA, NHRC in Parliament

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: The government tabled the annual reports of Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority and National Human Rights Commission in the Parliament on Wednesday.



On behalf of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, Minister for Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Bhanubhakta Dhakal tabled the reports in the session of the House of Representatives which were earlier received from the President's Office.

CIAA Chief Commissioner Navin Ghimire had presented the organization's 28th annual report to President Bidya Devi Bhandari last month and recently forwarded to the House of Representatives. The same report will now be discussed in the parliamentary committee.


The report has incorporated the activities carried out by the CIAA in the fiscal year 2074/2075. According to the report, over 19,000 complaints were registered in which 12,000 complaints were settled at the CIAA in the past one year. The NHRC report states that 152 complaints were filed at the commission in the fiscal year 2074/2075.
