Govt should not avoid election: UML Secretary Aryal

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: CPN-UML Secretary Padma Aryal has said that the government should not shy away from elections. At a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Baglung, on Sunday, she said that postponing periodic elections would be against democracy.

KATHMANDU, Feb 6: CPN-UML Secretary Padma Aryal has said that the government should not shy away from elections. At a press meet organized by Press Chautari Nepal, Baglung, on Sunday, she said that postponing periodic elections would be against democracy.

She demanded the government announce the date of local elections as soon as possible. "Elections should be held on time as per the constitution and law. The local level cannot be left without elected representatives. The constitution does not envisage any other structure to exercise the rights of the local governments," said Aryal.


She said that delaying the implementation of the constitution by any party would be unfortunate for the country. "The country will run according to the constitution, we are not supposed to run the constitution," she added.
