JUMLA, Sept 9: Registration renewal of vehicles should be done every year. It can be done at the office of the department of roads in any district. However, the registrations of the vehicles of the District Coordination Committee, Jumla, have not been renewed even for five years.

The committee has 13 motorbikes and two jeeps. According to Lal Bahadur Sarki, chairperson of the committee, the vehicles are being operated without their registration renewed for five years. He added that they are being haphazardly used for private purpose.

“The bikes and jeeps are being used for private purpose. They have not been re-registered for a long time,” he said. Vice-chairperson of the committee, Karma Budha said that an investigation into the matter is underway. “We, too, have come to know about it just recently. We have learnt that the documents of the vehicles have also been missing,” he said.

Budha said that the local development officer Hari Narayan Belbase has been asked to give clarification over the matter. “We have sought information on the matter. We have asked him why there are no documents,” he said. “He has to be accountable,” Budha added.

Meanwhile, Assistant CDO of Jumla, Tek Bahadur Budthapa said that the registration charge gets doubled every year when it is delayed. “Many other offices have also ignored the renewal of the registration of their vehicles. They should be disciplined,” he said.
