Govt endorses security plan for local polls

KATHMANDU, March 1: A meeting of the Central Security Committee (CSC) held on Wednesday endorsed the Security Plan 2017/18 for the local elections.

KATHMANDU, March 1: A meeting of the Central Security Committee (CSC) held on Wednesday endorsed the Security Plan 2017/18 for the local elections.



The CSC meeting chaired by Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Home Affairs Bimalendra Nidhi endorsed this security plan.

Meanwhile, the government has decided to deploy 226, 000 security personnel for the local elections to be  held on May 14.


DPM Nidhi has directed the security agency chiefs to make all necessary preparations for the local elections.


The present in the meeting were Home Secretary Lokdarshan Regmi, Defense Secretary Shreedhar Sapkota, Acting IGP of the Nepal Police Dr Dinesh Chandra Pokharel, IGP of Armed Police Force Singha  Bahadur Shrestha, Chief of the National Investigation Department Dilip Regmi, Major Genral of the Nepal Army Baladev Mahat.
