Govt directs security agencies to beef up security

KATHMANDU, Feb 16: The government has directed all the security agencies of the country to maintain a high-level of alertness and vigilance to prevent any untoward activities, thereby maintaining an effective law and order situation in the country.

KATHMANDU, Feb 16: The government has directed all the security agencies of the country to maintain a high-level of alertness and vigilance to prevent any untoward activities, thereby maintaining an effective law and order situation in the country. 



Issuing a notice on Tuesday, the Ministry of Home Affairs (MoHA) directed all 77 District Administration Offices (DAOs), Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and the National Investigation Department to close vigil of the situation and take appropriate action.

The directive comes in the wake of the government preparing to table the MCC Compact Agreement in parliament for ratification. Various fringe leftist parties including the ruling CPN (Maoist Center) and CPN (Unified Socialist) have announced a general strike across the country on Wednesday against the MCC agreement.
