The Indian authorities decided to temporarily ban the movement of four-wheelers on the bridge after the water level exceeded 100,000 cusec, it is said. It has already been suggested to repair the bridge.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Devsingh Badal said the bridge has been temporarily closed off to four-wheelers since this morning. At the moment, only pedestrians and two-wheelers are allowed to cross the bridge.

Generally, monsoon rains in hilly districts in the Sudur Paschim province lead to the surge of water level in the Mahakali. People residing in the low-lying areas here have been urged to remain watchful to the possible risk from the swollen river.
