MUSTANG, Jan 23: Number of foreign tourists visiting Mustang district has increased by 34.49 per cent in 2017 as compared to 2016.
According to Jomsom-based Area Office of Annapurna Conservation Area Project (ACAP), a total of 52,475 tourists visited Mustang in 2017.

Of them, 4,115 tourists visited upper Mustang, said Office Chief, Tulasi Dahal. A total of 39,017 tourists visited the district in 2016.
Dahal added transport facility and publicity are among the reasons behind increasing number of tourists visiting the district every year. Tourists from India, China, America, London, France, South Korea, Canada, New Zealand and Israel visit Mustang.
There are many tourist sites including Lomanthang, Muktinath, Marfa, Thini and Kagbeni. ACAP collects data of foreign tourists visiting the district at Jomsom and Kagbeni. A person from SAARC countries has to pay Rs 200 while a tourist from other countries has to pay Rs 2,000 as entry fee.
