Failure to adopt scientific criteria while distributing tickets led to NC's debacle: Sherchan

KATHMANDU, April 24: The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress, which is underway sice the last few days,  dwelled on reasons behind the party's defeat in the recent federal, provincial and local elections on Monday.

KATHMANDU, April 24: The Central Working Committee (CWC) meeting of the Nepali Congress, which is underway sice the last few days,  dwelled on reasons behind the party's defeat in the recent federal, provincial and local elections on Monday. 



In today's meeting, most of the central members airing their views suggested party leadership to take collective responsibility over the party defeat. 



On the occasion, central member Man Bahadur Bishwakarma said the party had secured first position on popular votes however; its seats were lesser in the first past the post election system. 



Some speakers said that the left alliance was the major cause behind the NC's defeat in the elections. 



Central members including Chitra Lekha Yadav, Chandra Bhandari, Kamala Pant, Ambika Basnet, Kiran Yadav, Dhyan Govinda Ranjit, Ratna Sherchan among others expressed their opinions.



Sherchan said that failure in not adopting scientific criteria while distributing candidacy ticket was one of the major cause behind the party's defeat.

Next meeting is scheduled for 8:30 am tomorrow.
