Election process should not be interrupted for minor issues: SC

KATHMANDU, Nov 1: Supreme Court has refused to issue interim order on a writ petition filed demanding two separate ballot papers for proportional electoral system for upcoming elections.

A single bench of Justice Ananda Mohan Bhattarai denied issuing the interim order on the writ. Lawyers Sunit Kumar and Sitaram Agrawal had filed writ demanding two separate ballot papers for proportional electoral system alike First-Past-the-Post (FPTP) electoral system. 

It has been mentioned in the verdict that the election process should not be interrupted for any means of minor issues raising the legal uncertainty. 


Likewise, the apex court has summoned government on November 5 to discuss on a writ filed by deputy attorney general Bharat Kumar Mainali demanding the voting right for the officials mobilized in the election under proportional electoral system.
