Election Commission consults legal experts following SC’s order

The Election Commission (EC) is engaged in a meeting with legal experts following Supreme Court’s (SC) order on Wednesday to print separate ballot papers for upcoming elections of House of Representatives and Province.

KATHMANDU, Oct 29: The Election Commission (EC) is engaged in a meeting with legal experts following Supreme Court’s (SC) order on Wednesday to print separate ballot papers for upcoming elections of House of Representatives and Province.

Election Commissioner, Sudhir Kumar Shah said that the meeting, being attended by Chief Justice along with other legal experts, was dwelling into feasibility of adhering to the SC’s order.  In doing so, the ongoing meeting is analyzing the SC’s order from legal, technical and practical aspects, Shah said.


Surya Prasad Aryal, Communication Officer at the EC said that printing of ballot papers for First-Past-the-Post election had been halted following SC’s order and ongoing legal consultation.
