Dr Bishal Gyawali appointed advisor to the British Medical Journal

Dr Bishal Gyawali, a Nepali national, has been appointed an advisor to the British Medical Journal (BMJ), one of the oldest and most influential general medicine journals in the world.

JAPAN, Dec 14: Dr Bishal Gyawali, a Nepali national, has been appointed an advisor to the British Medical Journal (BMJ), one of the oldest and most influential general medicine journals in the world.



Dr Gyawali is currently undertaking a PhD in medical oncology at Nagoya University, Japan.

Being published by the British Medical Association since 1840, the BMJ is one of the world’s leading medical journals. It is a weekly peer-reviewed journal which carries high-impact original research articles and unique case reports.


Started as the Provincial Medical and Surgical Journal on October 3, 1840, the BMJ appoints five advisors from around the world and now Dr Gyawali is one of them. Dr Gyawali’s job at the BMJ will be to advise the analysis section editor on the quality of researches and their possible impact before going to print. Godlee is the Editor of the BMJ since 2005.


“This is a big responsibility for me. I will be reviewing research works by the world’s best researchers.  This is a huge responsibility,” said Dr Gyawali.


Dr Gyawali is the SLC Board Topper of 2059 BS.
