Doctors' consultation fees increase 14 percent

KATHMANDU, May 15: Nepal Medical Association (NMA) and the Association of Private Health Institutions Nepal (APHIN) have reached an agreement to hike doctors’ consultation fees by 14 percent beginning today. 



This is the second time in two years that the consultation fees of doctors have increased.

As said by NMA General Secretary Dr Sanjeev Tiwari, the latest decision to hike the fees is based on the recommendation of the Nepal Rastra Bank's Inflation and Fees Advisory Committee. 


As per the revised fee chart, the consultation fee ranges from Rs 420 to Rs 940 per patient. The fees to see MBBS and BDS graduates with a five-year experience is fixed at Rs 420 while Rs 515 is charged to receive consultation services from those who have more than five years of experience. 


Likewise, the fee to see a doctor with a diploma degree and five years of experience is Rs 670, while Rs 750 is charged for an appointment with MD, MS and MDS doctors having experiences up to five years. Also, Rs 880 is charged to see those with more than five years of experience. One has to pay Rs 880 to receive the service from a doctor with DM/MCH degree and five years of experience, and Rs 940 to see those MD/MCH degree holders with experiences of more than five years.
