DNA test eases action against smuggler of animal part

LALITPUR, Feb 17: With the animal DNA test in place, action against the smugglers of different body parts of animals has been made easier.

LALITPUR, Feb 17: With the animal DNA test in place, action against the smugglers of different body parts of animals has been made easier.



The DNA test of animals initiated by National Forensic Lab since this fiscal year has eased the process to take action against the smugglers.

Principle Scientist Dinesh Jha said that the animal DNA test has enabled proper investigation which is also facilitating the justice system. 


"Earlier, it was not possible to distinguish the flesh and other bodily parts of animals", he said. But now the DNA test has made it possible to identify the body parts of animals even if their forms are changed over the time. 


In the past seven months, DNA test of four cows and 11 wild animals have been performed. RSS
