The DFTQC has stated that action will be taken against the people who use calcium carbide in fruits unnecessarily as per the Food Regulations 2027 BS. It also requested the commercial fruit ripening entrepreneurs to ripen the fruits using chemicals in accordance with the prescribed method in the international practice. It has requested the public not to purchase such fruit and inform the DFTQC or its subordinate office if such fruits are found.

Similarly, the DFTQC has requested to use only processed drinking water with the quality number of the jar and sealed cap. As the number of cholera patients in Kathmandu Valley has been increasing recently, the DFTQC has requested to use water based on its quality.

Meanwhile, the industrialists have been requested to sell and distribute water only by fulfilling the provisions as per the guideline 2074 on the production of processed drinking water. The department has warned to take action against those who sell and distribute water without renewing the license as per the law.
